The farm has enjoyed the early rain, fog, more rain, and sunshine. We look forward to next storm! We did some weeding and inventory this weekend and found several healthy starts from the late autumn seed sprinkle. Here is the latest update
Hens:
Maxine is finally laying eggs! She was the last of the 4 teen hens, her eggs are a lovely shade of purple, according to Farmer JaS. The 8 remaining baby chicks were moved in with the teens about a month ago, they're getting along and enjoying their holiday mealworms!
Veggies:
Turnips, bok choy, very little kale, some green and purple cabbage, amazing Brussels sprout, leeks, carrots of all colors, lettuce of all shapes and colors, peas, fava beans, and several other things will be ready soon. Garlic and onions are all very happy.
Herbs:
Oregano is very happy now that it has a permanent home, thyme, marjoram, tarragon is resprouting, lots of chervil, chives coming in,
Flowers:
We will have so much calendula, chamomile, lavender, marigolds are still sprouting around, echinacea,
Fruit:
Farmer J decided to get 2 kiwi trees/vines - that will be fun, he also got 3 pomegranates, the pear trees should produce next year as well as the lime and apple, strawberries also have a permanent home as our first large row crop!,
